About us
GUST was set up in 2016 to act as an incubator and enabler for new projects and emerging talent in the city of Gloucester. The launch of the new cultural strategy and the new Culture Trust signalled an ambition within the City Council and across the key stakeholders in the city to put culture and heritage at the heart of the ongoing regeneration.
GUST came out of this ambition, acknowledging that what was, and still is, most needed is long-term commitment to developing the cultural infrastructure in the city. As a team, we bring knowledge of the city and many combined years of experience working in the arts, culture, funding and heritage sectors both locally and nationally.
Our focus is on bringing together partnerships that may need careful nurturing in early stages. The arts sector in Gloucester is doing a great job of connecting deep into communities and we want to build on these relationships so that culture and heritage are a source of pride and a way of providing connections between individuals and public services.
We want to see a thriving independent culture sector in Gloucester which can fill our wonderfully refurbished heritage venues with imaginative and quirky programmes, providing communities with the opportunity to explore their heritage and contribute to local place-making in Gloucester.
