Voices Gloucester
Celebrating Gloucester’s History, Culture and Identity Through the Power of Storytelling
GUST has supported the development of Voices Gloucester, from its infancy as a strand of Gloucester History Festival (City Voices) to the launch of a new innovative brand working directly with communities across the city.
The year-round programme creates a sense of place for Gloucester residents and visitors alike. It is created by people from every walk of life who share a passion for storytelling and a deep sense of pride in Gloucester.
From historical talks to works of art, from theatre to spoken word, from poetry to podcasts.
The exciting, community led programme offers funding, mentoring and support to individuals or organisations that want to tell their story about Gloucester’s history.
The programme aims to challenge what history is, in a safe, supportive environment, respect and represent new voices, offer unexpected perspectives on events, spark new conversations, connect communities with shared experiences and inspire more people to connect with the heritage, history and community of Gloucester.
A community panel advises on the programme and decision making process and Voices Gloucester is adapting as it listens to what communities need and want.
